LET ME PAINT MY WORLD FOR YOU is a documentary film project created with and about artists on the autism spectrum. their extraordinary talent lies in using art as a means of expression – a way to make their inner worlds visible, to be heard and understood, and to communicate with the outside world. Their work becomes a bridge from within to without. through creative expression, these individuals find their voice.
the film is a multilayered portrait and artistic documentary journey with seven autistic artists in germany, switzerland, and the uk. It explores a wide range of forms – from visual art to sound experiments and performance – and includes critical reflections on their daily realities. filmed in authentic settings such as studios, art institutions, natural landscapes, and private living environments, the documentary offers an intimate and immersive view into their lives.

this participatory collaboration results in a collage of individual creative spaces, united by the globally relevant themes of inclusion and diversity. the protagonists express themselves through different "languages" – visual, sonic and performative – yet their message is universal. the film invites us to consider visibility, participation, and a deeper understanding of what it means to be human in all its forms.

"let me paint my world for you" arose from encounters with people whose perception is structured differently – and who develop a special artistic power precisely because of this. the film is an approach to autistic artists who express their world in color, sound, and movement. i am not interested in otherness as a deviation, but as an independent form of seeing and feeling. in working with them, i experienced an authenticity and freedom that we often lose in everyday life. „let me paint my world for you“ understands art as the language of existence – immediate, honest, without explanation. It is not a film about autism, but about people, about perception, about the poetry of the self-evident. nature provides the resonance chamber for a silent connection between the inner and outer worlds – and reminds us that diversity is what we actually have in common.

ICH MALE DIR MEINE WELT ist ein dokumentarischer film mit und über künstler:innen mit autistischer Wahrnehmung. im zentrum stehen menschen, deren außergewöhnliche begabung in der kunst als ausdrucksform liegt – als möglichkeit, inneres erleben sichtbar zu machen, gehört und verstanden zu werden und mit der außenwelt in beziehung zu treten. ihre werke schlagen brücken von innen nach außen und verleihen erfahrungen eine stimme, für die es jenseits der kunst oft keine sprache gibt.

„ich male dir meine welt“ entstand aus der begegnung mit menschen, deren wahrnehmung anders strukturiert ist – und gerade darin eine besondere künstlerische kraft entfaltet. der film ist eine annäherung an autistische künstler:innen, die ihre welt in farbe, klang und bewegung ausdrücken. mich interessiert nicht das anderssein als abweichung, sondern als eigenständige form des sehens und fühlens. in der arbeit mit ihnen erlebte ich eine authentizität und freiheit, die uns im alltag oft verloren geht. „ich male dir meine welt“ versteht kunst als sprache des daseins – unmittelbar, ehrlich, ohne erklärung. es ist kein film über autismus, sondern über menschen, über wahrnehmung, über die poesie des selbstverständlichen. die natur bildet dabei den resonanzraum für eine stille verbindung zwischen innen- und außenwelt – und erinnert daran, dass vielfalt unser eigentliches gemeinsames ist.
